The broad objective of the MCA programme is to prepare graduate students for productive careers in software industry and academia by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in the core and emerging areas of the discipline. The Programme’s thrust is on giving the students a thorough and sound background in theoretical and application-oriented courses relevant to the latest computer software development. The programme emphasizes the application of software technology to solve mathematical, computing, communications/networking and commercial problems.

Courses

Regular 3 year MCA

A pass with not less than 50% marks (or CGPA(Core Courses) more than 2.15 out of 4) in any recognized regular Bachelor’s Degree course (with Mathematics / Statistics (Business Mathematics and Business Statistics are excluded)/ Computer Science / Computer Application / Engineering and Technology as a Main / Subsidiary / Core / Complementary) of minimum three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 level.

 

OR

 

i) A pass with not less than 50% marks (or CGPA(Core Courses) more than 2.15 out of 4) in BCA degree of minimum three years duration from a recognized University.

 

ii) Subject to the regulation relating to prescribed minimum of the respective qualifying examination, the minimum marks of admission to the course of studies shall be a pass in the case of SC/ST candidates.

 

iii) Candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) referred to GO(P)208/66/Edn dated. 2-5-96 and subsequent amendments to order issued by the Government shall be given a relaxation of 2% marks in the prescribed minimum for admission.

 

iv) A relaxation of 5% marks from the prescribed minimum shall be allowed in the case of physically handicapped persons.

 

v) Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in more than one chance in the subject (excluding languages) will have their percentage marks derated at the rate of 5% for every additional appearance for the purpose of ranking.

 

Candidates with such degrees awarded by the Mahatma Gandhi University or any other degree recognized as equivalent to degrees in ( i ) by the Mahatma Gandhi University also are eligible to apply.

 

Reservation of seats shall be as per rules prescribed in the relevant rules by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala

2 year MCA (MCA Lateral Entry)

A pass with not less than 50% marks in recognized regular Bachelor of science Degree course of minimum three years duration in the discipline of Computer Science or Information Technology with Mathematics at l0+2 level.

 

OR

 

i) A pass with not less than 50% marks in BCA degree of minimum three years duration from a recognized University.

 

ii) Subject to the regulation relating to prescribed minimum of the respective qualifying examination, the minimum marks of admission to the course of studies shall be a pass in the case of SC/ST candidates.

 

iii) Candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) referred to GO(P)208/66/Edn dated. 2-5-96 and subsequent amendments to order issued by the Government shall be given a relaxation of 2% marks in the prescribed minimum for admission.

5 year Dual Degree MCA (DDMCA)

i) A candidate seeking admission to Dual Degree MCA course must have A pass with not less than 45% marks in 10+2 level with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational subject.

 

ii) Subject to the regulation relating to prescribed minimum of the respective qualifying examination, the minimum marks of Admission to the Course of studies shall be a pass in the case of SC/ST candidates.

 

iii) Candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) referred to GO(P)208/66/Edn dated. 2-5-96 and subsequent amendments to order issued by the Government shall be given a relaxation of 2% marks in the prescribed minimum for admission.

 

iv) A relaxation of 5% marks from the prescribed minimum shall be allowed in the case of physically handicapped persons.

Duration

 

The Course shall extend over a period of Five Academic years consisting of Ten Semesters.

Computer Labs

The MCA Department has fully furnished Computer Labs for the smooth conduct of its practical classes . The rules and regulations of the Computer Labs are as follows:-

 

O All members of staff and students of the Institution can avail of the facilities in the computer lab.

O The computer lab will be opened from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM.

O Students have to sign in the Lab Gate Register.

O No students can avail the lab while class sessions are in progress.

O Students are expected to maintain decorum in the lab. Any misdemeanor will attract punishment.

O If any machines/accessories are damaged due to any misdemeanor of the student he/she will be charged a fine for the same.

O All students are expected to remove their footwear before they enter the lab.

O During working hours all are expected to wear formal dress as instructed in the campus.

O No students can use their floppy / CD / USB Drive without the permission of the Lab in-charge.

O A student leaving the institution before or after completing his/her course will have to get a no liability certificate from the Lab in charge for getting any certificate from the     Institution.

O All other college rules also are applicable in the lab.
